Chablis wine
Chablis wine is the pride and joy of the Burgundy region. What makes it unique is the grape variety used in its production: chardonnay. This dry white wine is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes. The Chablis appellation, which dates back to the 17th century, is reserved for a specific wine-growing region in northern Burgundy.
The viticultural history of Chablis dates back to Gallo-Roman times. It was in the 12th century that Chablis wine began to enjoy growing success thanks to its exceptional quality. Today, it continues to be widely appreciated for its unique taste and distinctive character. The Chablis terroir, with its limestone soil, steep slopes and cool climate, is ideal for producing pure, mineral white wines. Chablis wine is therefore a treasure of French viticultural history that continues to fascinate wine lovers the world over.
Mineral and often floral notes are typical characteristics of this wine, as is its lively acidity, which makes it refreshing. Flavors of green apple, lemon and citrus fruit are also part of its assets. A wine that every dry white wine lover should try!
The Chablis Wine Festival
For its 75th edition, the Chablis Wine Festival takes place from October 21 to 22, 2023, on Boulevard Tacussel in Chablis. Organized by the Office du Chablis in partnership with the Bureau Interprofessionnel des Vins de Bourgogne (BIVB), this wine festival is a major event of the year, promoting the discovery and tasting of Chablis appellations: Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru, and Chablis Grand Cru.
Amateurs, professionals and the general public gather in the heart of the village to celebrate the new 2023 vintage and enjoy tastings offered by some forty Chablis and Grand Auxerrois winemakers.
