On board our luxury vehicle, we take you to southern Burgundy for a private day discovering two still little-known wine regions of remarkable richness: the Côte Chalonnaise and the Mâconnais.
This wine tour invites you to explore a more authentic, more secret Burgundy, deeply connected to its art of living. As you travel through the rolling landscapes of the Côte Chalonnaise and then the spectacular hills of the Mâconnais, you will discover terroirs of great diversity, where Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and even Aligoté express themselves with character.
Accompanied by your wine expert driver-guide, you will travel through emblematic villages such as Rully, Mercurey, Givry, Bouzeron, then further south to Pouilly-Fuissé and the surroundings of Roche de Solutré. You will learn how to read the vineyard landscapes, understand the local geology, and grasp what gives these southern Burgundy wines their personality.
The day continues with two tastings of prestigious wines at passionate wine estates, including at least one Premier Cru or a high-level single-vineyard cuvée. A lunch break in a restaurant reserved by us completes this experience. The meal is not included and must be paid for directly on site.

The Côte Chalonnaise and the Mâconnais hold a special place in Burgundy's vineyards. Less well known than the Côte de Nuits or the Côte de Beaune, these two regions nevertheless offer a fascinating insight into Burgundy wine country, with varied landscapes, family estates, and wines of outstanding quality.
The Côte Chalonnaise naturally extends the Côte de Beaune to the south, but with a more fragmented relief and a more rural atmosphere. Here you will find iconic appellations such as Rully, Mercurey, Givry, and Bouzeron. Rully is renowned for its precise, taut white wines, Mercurey for its structured Pinot Noir reds, Givry for its elegant wines, and Bouzeron for its distinctive Aligoté, unique among Burgundy village appellations.
Further south, the Mâconnais offers another expression of Chardonnay. The climate is milder, the landscapes more open, and the relief more dramatic. The appellations of Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran, and Mâcon-Villages are among the finest expressions of southern Chardonnay, with wines that are more generous, more sun-kissed, yet still marked by the limestone freshness of the terroir.
The Roche de Solutré is one of the region's major landmarks. This spectacular site overlooks the surrounding vineyards and helps explain the relationship between geology, exposure, and wine quality. In the Mâconnais, Jurassic soils and well-oriented hillsides play an essential role in the aromatic richness and balance of the white wines.
The appeal of a private wine tour in Southern Burgundy is also the chance to discover a different approach to the vineyards: more discreet, more accessible, yet just as fascinating. Here, family estates often maintain a direct relationship with visitors, and tastings take on a more human, more spontaneous, and often very warm dimension.
This part of Burgundy is also deeply shaped by its history. The influence of the Abbey of Cluny was decisive in the organization of the land and the development of viticulture. Understanding this history helps you better grasp the identity of these landscapes and the long-standing link between spirituality, agriculture, and the Burgundian art of living.
Discovering the Côte Chalonnaise and the Mâconnais on a private wine tour is therefore a way to step off the classic routes and explore a more secret, more generous, and often surprising Burgundy. It is a wonderful way to deepen your knowledge of Burgundy wines while enjoying a full day of tastings, heritage, and gastronomy.
